LIVING (CONSTELLATION)

2015

This lighting object invites us to slow down for a moment. Oftentimes the objects that surround us play supporting roles or provide a mere backdrop in the play of our lives. In our rush to continue our daily routines, we fail to appreciate the little details contained within these constant companions. As furniture-makers, we have the opportunity to expand the role that these daily objects play and bring them into center stage, perhaps even providing a brief respite from our own roles in the spotlight.

This piece is about exploration and reward; about perspective and infinity; about reflection and wonder. It’s about reminding us of something outside of our everyday, outside of our complex and busy worlds. It’s an object that invites us in and keeps us engaged even as it allows us to disengage. It’s an object that provides a safe place to wander freely – without obligation, without preoccupation, without the rituals that so easily consume us.
